How to Let No One Break your Heart - Learn the Balance Between Cognitive and Emotional Functions.

The limbic system is a set of brain structures that play a role in emotion and cognitive functions. To be more specific, the amygdala, which is the deepest part of the limbic system, is involved in many cognitive processes and emotional responses, including feelings like pleasure, fear, anxiety and anger.

In order to learn to balance the limbic system, hence finding a balance between emotional and cognitive functions, one must train the limbic system. By doing so, individuals can become steadier, more focussed, and mentally stronger.

Here are 5 things you can do to train your limbic system:

  1. Eat a diet that is high in anti-inflammatory foods: These types of foods reduce inflammation, as the name suggests, but also stabilize blood sugar and provide necessary nutrients to the limbic system. A diet high in lemons, avocado, green tea, organic fish, garlic and onions, ginger, basil and oregano, coconut oil, and turmeric promotes limbic system health.

  2. Manage stress levels: Stress is the leading factor in cognitive dysfunction, and severe stress causes inflammation in the brain, damaging brain health. Meditation, deep breathing, yoga, sunlight exposure, and exercise are great ways to manage stress.

  3. Be Grateful and Laugh More: Being in a state of gratitude improves limbic responses. Gratitude helps calm stress hormones and releases hormones such as oxytocin, serotonin and endorphins that help put your mind and body in a positive state. Laughter also positively impacts our stress response system and releases endorphins, which can be therapeutic for the limbic system.

  4. Increase Omega-3 Intake: Omega-3 Fatty acids are important for normal brain function, and these fats protect us from cognitive disorders.

  5. Reduce EMF exposure: Electromagnetic fields (EMF) play a role in limbic dysfunction. An EMF is a physical field produced by electrically charged objects, including cell phones, microwaves, WiFi, etc. Some symptoms of EMF sensitivity include insomnia, cognitive issues, fatigue, dizziness, and ringing in the ears. Reduce the amount of time you spend near EMF-related objects, and you will see an improvement in limbic system health!

With these tools, you should be on your way to emotional and cognitive balance!
